Recently there has been much discussion regarding the topic of Italian justice. Italians hVittorio Zingalesave felt criticized and some, perhaps, even felt there was merit to the criticism. One asks: are we truly one of the most degraded and uncivilized countries of the world’s great democracies?

This paper concerns the case of Carlo Parlanti, an Italian national imprisoned in California, one of the most discussed criminal cases in the recent past (a complete transcription of the trial is available on the websites http://www.carloparlanti.com  and http://www.thepeoplevscarloparlanti.com). There are also many medical reports published on this website, but we wanted yet another technical and medical opinion. The first person to collaborate by providing answers to our questions has been Dr Vittorio Zingales, a surgeon of 29 years, and for the last 18 years a department director for the largest psychiatric hospital in Italy. In addition, he has had oversight of the “Madia” Judicial Psychiatric Hospital in Barcellona for almost 15 years . Since 1982 he has served as C.T.U. in four separate court houses: Messina, Barcellona, Patti and Milazzo. He has been a Social Security Administration physician since June, 1995. The following is our interview with Dr Zingales:

Zacchera – to the Minister of Foreign Affairs – to the Minister of Justice

Be it known, insomuch as

-                     Recently there have been numerous disputes in the media regarding the criminal case in Perugia with intervention on the part of America (as in the case of Senator Cantwell) against our judiciary system because one of their citizens has been found guilty.

-                     Numerous Italian citizens  are imprisoned in the USA and both the parliament and the above listed ministers have been heretofore following the case of Carlo Parlanti, an Italian national imprisoned for over 6 years, despite the fact that on many occasions national media has highlighted the innocence of our countryman and potential irregularities committed against him during the trial.

-                     Recently more reports and expert's declarations have been made public all of which lead to ever increasing, worrysome conclusions:

A gynecologist gives scientific advice Carlo Parlanti’s case PDF Print E-mail

Speaking is Dr. Ivanoe Santoro gynecologist interviewed December 11, 2009 by Antonella Ricciardi, published in "Italia Sociale"

In order to analyze Carlo Parlanti's case as much as possible in depth, objectively and scientifically, it is fundamental to review the studies of the experts in the medical fields. These medical reports can serve to provide clarity to the case, something of particular importance at this time, as Carlo Parlanti fights to gain a new trial. A second chance at trial is by no means a given in the United States (except in the case of a death sentence) and can be granted only in the face of compelling evidence presented by the accused after an arduous process which includes the filing of  a "habeas corpus" petition. In practice, gaining an appeal in the United States is comparable to obtaining a revision of sentence in Italy after exhausting all three levels of trial provided for in our judicial system…

Another crucial element is that Carlo Parlanti and his supporters are trying to obtain an appeal at the Federal level and not at the County; this in order to have a greater objective evaluation owing to incongruities, finally proven that occurred during the investigation conducted by Ventura County.
